Sunshine Mountain Nursery & Butterfly Farms, owned & operated by Robert & Lynda Gougler, is nestled on 23 acres in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina.
Our farm, noted for its quality perennial plant nursery, also houses a butterfly nursery. With 9 greenhouses, a butterfly rearing laboratory and a flight house our butterflies enjoy being spoiled by an abundance of nectar plants. Our daughter, Alanis, plays an important role in caring for the tiny caterpillars in the nursery section of our lab.

Our butterfly farm retains permits to ship Monarchs to states east of the Continental Divide. We are members of the International Butterfly Breeders Association, a non-profit association promoting the highest standards of ethics, competence and professionalism in breeding quality Lepidoptera. We are also members of the Association for Butterflies, an organization focused on butterfly research and funding; butterfly conservation; butterfly breeding education and butterfly gardening instruction.
